How I found out Tesla was testing payments for a coin called SHIBA (SBA), and how that coin ended up very likely not being $SHIB, but $DOGE instead.

A few days ago I decided to simulate a purchase on Tesla's website, and dig through the source code to find any mention of #Bitcoin. There it was, naturally, but alongside it was another coin, "SHIBA" (ticker SBA).

In a matter of hours, the $SHIB rumour spread through CT. pic.twitter.com/NGQHnVZ4zy
Since then, because of the rumour spreading, Tesla changed the file to only mention Bitcoin https://t.co/bcZHDXXoJK

The most confusing part about this was, "Bitcoin" is mapped to ticker $BTC, like it should be, but "SHIBA" is mapped to $SBA (not $SHIB, not $DOGE). pic.twitter.com/D8ABXgDyit
Having saved the file that was changed, I decided to figure out what $SBA might be.

The hasCrypto() function was coded to enable BITCOIN and SHIBA buys for US people, but was returning null anyway. By removing the ',null' part, the website effectively shows two new buttons. pic.twitter.com/LbKINZ65Ua
I tried to press "Order with Shiba", and much to my surprise: the payment processing was already built!

Here I am with the page open, asking me to send 136.82 SBA, worth $37.24, to an address starting with D7a…
Okay how the f do I know what to send? pic.twitter.com/Gsd8g2qjeI
The exchange rate works out to $0.2721, which was DOGE price at that point.

The address also matches DOGE regex, and can be found on DOGE explorers.
At that point, I do two experiments: one where I let the 30 minutes run down, and another one after where I send 136.82 DOGE.
If I wait for the 30 minutes to expire, nothing happens.

However, here's the interesting part: if I actually send the DOGE to the address, I immediately get redirected to the previous page with an error message.
This clearly indicates that the payment has been detected on-chain. pic.twitter.com/8zUwap8Dif
That's it!

A handful of questions:
-Why call it SHIBA (SBA) and not $DOGE?
-How long has this been in testing?
-Could Elon be planning to release a "SHIBA" wallet for DOGE, or to fork DOGE?
